Zhenjiang the Beautiful

Located just down Dong Wu Lu, the nearest major street to Jiangbin kindergarten, is Bei3gu4 Shan1 Gong1yuan2, or North Hill Park. I went there this afternoon and wonder why it's taken me this long to enjoy such a beautiful park. Aside from the beauty of the pink blossoms and the spectacular view of the city, North Hill Park also has the remains of a famous iron pagoda from the Tang dynasty (about 600-900 AD). The hill overlooks the Yangzi river, (known here as the Chang2jiang1, or long river) which seems to know all kinds of secrets about China and humanity that I wish I knew. The weather was perfect and up on the hill everything was kind of glazed over with serenity, despite the noise of traffic and construction below. All this ancient history, including the remains of ancient Dong Wu Lu, is in walking distance from my apartment.
I am growing quite attached to Zhenjiang.

And just for kicks, this week I also tried congealed duck blood and pig brain, hailed a pedicab (a little cart pulled by a biker) who dropped me off in front of the Outpatient Clinic instead of the kindergarten, was told by my grocery bagger that I am very big (that's only if I understood her correctly), was told by a student practicing his English that he is very sorry I am eighteen, and met a man from South Africa who teaches English at Jiangsu University.

Thanks for all your support. I love you all! Happy Easter!
