The Update

I thought I'd take a break from studying geology and Chinese to update my blog...needless to say, it's been a while. So here's the update. :)
My life has been good and busy with fun, crazy, and not-so-fun things: performing in a ward talent show with my amazing roommate Courtenay, reading Dickens for sociology, watching a video of my Chinese students and waxing nostalgic, thoroughly enjoying ballet class, staring hopelessly at a rock wondering if it is igneous or metamorphic, accompanying a musical number in church, attending the BYU basketball games with Meilina, celebrating ground hog day, etc.
Last night Meilina and I went to see the New Shanghai Circus performing in the HFAC. It was amazing, with acrobats, a contortionist, jugglers, and dancers. My favorite part, though, was talking with the people selling souvenirs. I love talking with Chinese people!!!
Tomorrow night I'm volunteering at a Chinese New Year Party sponsored by the Native Chinese Club and the Chinese Learners Club. It's the year of the tiger. Gongxi, Gongxi!Fa Cai! A year ago today I left for China. Wow. Can't wait to go back.
Pictured below: Top: Me and my five roommies all went to Olive Garden (affectionately known as OG) to celebrate Jenna's birthday. Bottom: My roommate bet dinner on a ping pong game, and lost :(. The boys came over for dinner and then we went to the creamery and bought mugs that make animal noises. Mine is a frog :).
