Blessings Everywhere

Last weekend I had the awesome opportunity to attend the baptism of my friend Huong. She came to BYU from Vietnam and I attended some of the missionary lessons with her during summer term. It is absolutely wonderful to see how the gospel of Jesus Christ is changing her.

I’m getting into a routine this semester, which is good. I changed my schedule a little so now I am taking Chinese, Human Biology, Statistics, Intro to International Politics, and New Testament. I also signed up to volunteer at a local elementary every Thursday in their Chinese-immersion classroom (first grade), which will be a great experience I think. I am in the process of deciding what to do with my life--stick with early childhood education or do something with Chinese--so this semester I'm exploring my options to see what I like. Any advice welcome.

Tonight I went with a couple of friends from the Chinese house to a Cultural Revolution Art Exhibit put on by UVU. We got to meet one of the artists (I had such a hard time understanding his accent). My understanding of Chinese language and culture is improving slowly but surely.

This weekend we got to hear from four apostles, plus Elder Snow of the Seventy and Sister Beck. Sunday was regional conference in the Marriott Center, and we heard from Elder Holland, President Packer, and Sister Beck. Then Sunday night was the CES fireside with Elder Scott, and today was devotional with Elder Hales. It is amazing how the leaders of the Church are so in-touch with the issues that we’re facing. I got so much comfort and guidance out of the talks. I am so grateful to be here at BYU, and to be a member of the Church. Thanks to my parents and grandparents! Being alive, getting an education, having and sharing the gospel--I'm grateful for all these blessings.
