Monday morning I pulled myself out of bed, ate a bowl of oatmeal, grabbed my key and camera, and headed out to greet the students. Many of the parents stay to watch the Monday morning flag ceremony. Each week, a different class is honored and helps raise the flag while the Chinese national anthem is sung by the students. After the ceremony, the students resume their usual morning exercises. Their exercises are really line dances/aerobic routines to children's music led by the teachers.
While the kids exercise, I head to my apartment to get all my teaching supplies. If I have not yet, I eat breakfast and brush my teeth, or read my scriptures. I teach four classes in the morning, two for half an hour each and two for twenty minutes each. We play games and practice pronunciation of English vocabulary. The kids LOVE getting stickers as a reward. Lunch is at 11:30. The teachers have a room to eat outside of the school kitchen. Usually, the kitchen staff serves rice and some kind of vegetable, and a soup. We had dumplings once, and on Monday I ate fried eggs with the rice, which was a nice change.
After lunch the children nap. On Wednesdays and Fridays, I teach more classes in the afternoon. On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, I join a different class to play outside, sing songs, or practice English. It just depends on what their teachers want me to do. Sometimes, I just sit back and watch. Here is a picture of one of the classrooms.

School ends at4:30! Today I joined some of the little girls for their after-hours ballet class. The teacher was very nice to let me, and I had fun! It is raining again, so I just went back to my apartment, put a load of laundry in, and made some dinner. And here I am! I'm so grateful that the computer in my room works now!
I love you all!
